Avril Lavigne at the Olympics Closing Ceremonies!

Like I mentioned here a while back, Avril Lavigne appeared at the Turin Olympics closing ceremonies as part of the Canadian presentation (the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver B.C. in Canada).

We taped that part of the show and took some pictures off our projection TV, so they're not too clear but not bad. I have one of the pics here to the right and two at the bottom.

And what song did Avril Lavigne sing at the Olympics closing ceremonies? She sang "Who Knows" from her CD "Under My Skin".

You can hear a bit of the song if you scroll down a bit to "Listen to Samples" on the Amazon Page for "Under My Skin" and click on either the Windows Media or Real Player link beside "Who Knows".

Oh, and I had my own connection with the Canadian Olympic Team! Just before the Olympics started, my friends and I volunteered at the local mall to wear the HBC Official Canadian Team clothes and walk around the mall asking people for donations to support the our Olympic team and to show off the clothes.

The pic on the right is a photo I took from our projector showing me on the local news channel (CKWS in Kingston) when I was asked to showoff the team hat/toque The Bay was selling. And you can see some of the other official Canadian Olympic clothes in the back (HBC is "The Hudsons Bay Company").

And the Canadian Olympic Team did awesome this year! We won the most medals in our history and ranked #3 for most medals won - 24 - behind Germany and the USA!

Anyways, Avril did great at these ceremonies and I'm looking forward to the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010 - hopefully she'll sing there too!

And here are the last two pics I took from our TV. And notice the ring Avril is wearing... to me, it doesn't look like the engagement ring I had a picture of in a post last December (but I could be wrong). The one she's wearing here looks like the stone is off center - and in the first pic looks almost like a pearl... oh, maybe it's actually two rings (my pics here are too fuzzy to tell for sure)! :)

Here's a video (from some network) of Avril singing at the closing ceremonies!

i thought avril did great at the closing ceremonies, she really convinced me to go to the olympics in vancouver in 2010!! I also think that her voice was great and the preformance was really cool!

I agree Avril did great and all the reviews I read about her performance were all very very good (except the hard core haters of course).

I did read something somewhere about people thinking she was lip synching, but that's not true.

They might have got Avril mixed up with the little girl who sang during the opening ceremonies who did lip synch (but she's really young, so that's understandable). OR the person was watching a broadcast where the sound and video were off so it looks like her lips weren't moving at the same time as the sound.

Avril Lavigne did one of the best performances that I have ever seen for an olympic ceremony. Leanne Rimes did good too a few olympics ago, but I think Avril did WAY better. I wish i could go to the olympics in Vancouver, but I live all the way in Vancouver WA. Parents (yes, i'm still young) probably wouldn't drive me that far just to see the best person in my mind (Avril Lavigne).
