UPDATE: This post was done when there were RUMOURS about Avril & Deryck geting married. But since then we've found out the rumours were TRUE!

Well, I read VERY similar rumours on news websites LAST weekend saying Avril Lavigne & Deryck Whibly would be getting married THEN... so I'm not sure if this newest rumour is true or not, but now they're saying the marriage will be THIS weekend (July 15-16).

According to Canada.com (and other sources), the couple plans to wed in California surrounded by friends and family...

Avril's parents John & Judy (and her new husband maybe..?) and siblings Michelle & Matthew have made the trip from Napanee, Ontario to Santa Barbara for the wedding. They also reported Deryck's mom Michelle will be there.

The ceremony is suppose to be a traditional wedding with Avril wearing a designer white gown. The location of the service is being kept a secret but their reception is suppose to feature rock bands and circus performers!

The article also says they have sold the rights to their wedding photos to a leading agency which will then sell the photos around the World.

Deryck proposed to Avril during her European tour last June and they moved the wedding date up from August 26 to hopefully avoid a lot of paparazzi hassles and (rumoured AGAIN) Avril may also be pregnant. Gossip columns have said recently that she's been buying items for a nursery they have in their house.

At her bachelorette party (or "hen party) on June 30, Avril wore a veil and devil horns and got gifts that included pink 2Belles panties embroidered with “The Mrs,” and a bra, panties and camisole set from Cherish, and handcuffs!

Then Avril and Deryck dined at Los Angeles restaurant "Koi" with 20 friends. After that, they went to the nightclub "Lobby" and partied along with Jessica Alba and Nicky Hilton.



Just FYI, Avril was raised in Napanee Ontario (not *born* there, like Canada.com said - she was born in the next town over called Belleville) and Deryck was born in Scarborough that's basically a suburb of Toronto Ontario, but settled in Ajax which is not far from Napanee... actually, according to Google Maps the two towns are exactly 2 and a half hours apart if you drive the speed limit. :)



Here's a map showing where Ajax and Napanee are compared to each other - I scrunched up the area between them because it was too wide to show the whole thing. Napanee and Ajax are 178 km or 110 miles away from each other.

I'll stay on top of this wedding news (or rumour!) and update this post whenever I find out new information!

UPDATE July 15:

I just saw another article that quotes Bill Kosmopoulos, the owner of the "La Pizzeria" restaurant in Napanee. That's where Avril use to hang out as a teenager and the owners are good friends with her too...

In Lavigne’s hometown of Napanee, there was buzz about a possible wedding, but the owner of a pizzeria where she often goes said he wasn’t privy to any special information.

"I wish her well if she’s getting married," said Bill Kosmopoulos of La Pizzeria.

When she visits town three or four times a year, she still stops at the pizzeria, he said.

"I saw her personally — it was after Christmas, the last time she came here."

"She’s a busy girl," he added.

"I wish her the best — all the best, and have a nice life."
