Avril Lavigne

Like I mentioned here a while back, Avril Lavigne appeared at the Turin Olympics closing ceremonies as part of the Canadian presentation (the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver B.C. in Canada).

We taped that part of the show and took some pictures off our projection TV, so they're not too clear but not bad. I have one of the pics here to the right and two at the bottom.

And what song did Avril Lavigne sing at the Olympics closing ceremonies? She sang "Who Knows" from her CD "Under My Skin".

Oh, and I had my own connection with the Canadian Olympic Team! Just before the Olympics started, my friends and I volunteered at the local mall to wear the HBC Official Canadian Team clothes and walk around the mall asking people for donations to support the our Olympic team and to show off the clothes.

The pic on the right is a photo I took from our projector showing me on the local news channel (CKWS in Kingston) when I was asked to showoff the team hat/toque The Bay was selling. And you can see some of the other official Canadian Olympic clothes in the back (HBC is "The Hudsons Bay Company").

And the Canadian Olympic Team did awesome this year! We won the most medals in our history and ranked #3 for most medals won - 24 - behind Germany and the USA!

Anyways, Avril did great at these ceremonies and I'm looking forward to the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010 - hopefully she'll sing there too!

And here are the last two pics I took from our TV. And notice the ring Avril is wearing... to me, it doesn't look like the engagement ring I had a picture of in a post last December (but I could be wrong). The one she's wearing here looks like the stone is off center - and in the first pic looks almost like a pearl... oh, maybe it's actually two rings (my pics here are too fuzzy to tell for sure)! :)




MARCH 3 - UPDATE!

As many Avril fans know (and I posted about last October), Avril does the voice for a character in an upcoming animated movie "Over the Hedge" by the creators of Shrek...

And today I took another look at the official "Over the Hedge" website and saw they added a new teaser/trailer video!

We don't actually get to hear Avril's voice (Boo!) but they do show her character for a bit and of course mention her name in the end credits. But it's still a great trailer and I'm looking forward to seeing it even more!

I thought i would write a post about my new Avril Lavigne poster that i got for Christmas. It's the same picture of her as the one on the "Under My Skin" Album.

My dad ordered the poster from AllPosters.com just before Christmas and it arrived in a thick cardboard tube that's extremely hard to bend (I tried a few times. lol).

When I opened it up, it had a bit of a wrinkle in it but it turned out okay... besides, one of my dad's coworkers ordered a poster from them about a year ago and there was a minor problem with it, but AllPosters replaced it with no problems at all.

But i would suggest getting it a frame or mount just to ensure the safety of your poster and so it's all ready to hang up as soon as it arrives. I'm looking around for a local business to either frame or mount my poster, but if when I order another one I'll probably have allposters do it for me.

Avril Lavigne Remixed

"Avril Lavigne loves black. Always has. And skulls and studs and other things that rock 'n' roll girls do. But something has happened recently to the punky kid who has sold millions of albums to impressionably angry adolescents and inspired clones throughout the land to emulate her famed antistyle of baggy dickies, tank top, necktie, and eyefuls of eyeliner: When our backs were turned, she grew up.

Which brings Avril to the set of Bazaar's New York photo shoot. At 21, she's absolutely tiny- about five foot one, a size 0 at most. Her newly blonde hair is shampoo-commercial-ready, her features china-doll precise.

Wearing a black tank and jeans and sporting a shy smile, she carries a skull-embossed makeup bag (in black) and a silver studded purse (yes, also in black). She's been thinking for a while now about changing her look, about gingerly dipping her sneakered toe into fashionable waters.

"A couple of years ago I started wearing skirts," she says, her thoughts tumbling out rapid-fire and betraying her demure first impression. "I'm starting to feel more feminine. I'm getting into hair and makeup and image. That's the best part of being a girl."

And today is a good day to be a girl. When she's presented with all the clothing options for the shoot, Avril immediately grabs a black crystal-embroidered Gucci dress with puffed cap sleeves. Next an Audrey Hepburnesque bustier skirt with a bow at the waist.

"I love it, I love it," she says. Then (and who would have thought a rock chick would go for this?) a sinuous, sophisticated skirt suit.

But it's when she puts on a midnight blue Chanel lace shift that Avril draws a gasp all around. She looks like a Carnaby Street heroine, a Twiggy for the 2000's..."

Wow - it's been a long time since I added a post to my blog.

But it's been a long time since any NEW Avril news has come out. The "real" news sites are just reporting stuff about Avril that I posted here a long time ago, like her acting in the movie "Fast Food Nation", being the voice for a possum in the animated movie "Over the Hedge", wanting be a model (and Avril actually *is* a Ford Model!), and that she'll be singing at the Olympics in Turin, Italy.

I'm going to making a couple of posts within the next week about some Avril Lavigne Christmas presents I got this past Xmas, but first wanted to see if I could add video to my blog. It's not video of me, but a video I found online that was made by another Avril fan...

It looks like she found different videos with Avril (and one clip shows her playing hockey like a good Canadian! *lol*) with Avril singing "Knocking on Heaven's Door" in the background.

The creator's name is "Sherry" and (by looking at her MySpace blog) she lives in Asia somewhere (?) or is Asian and lives somewhere else.. or speaks/writes in an Asian language... I'm not sure which it is because I can't reead her blog to know for sure. :)

Either way, it's a pretty cool video, so let's see if I can add it to my blog here... and I'll post more later this week!
