Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne is involved with MANY charities, and one she obviously supports a lot is War Child Canada.

Check out this Avril video of her singing "Knockin on Heaven's Door" (from the 'War Child' CD) which shows kids in Iraq through the video (the little boy with the blue backpack and glasses is a real cutie!)....

This past Christmas i also got a War Child shirt after seeing that Avril Lavigne has worn one on many occasions, including right on the War Child website - She actually has the tank top on in the pic while I got the t-shirt for Christmas -->

War Child helps children from other countries that have been victims of war, and their website says:

War Child International is a network of independent organisations, working across the world to help children affected by war. War Child was founded upon a fundamental goal: to advance the cause of peace through investing hope in the lives of children caught up in the horrors of war.

War Child keeps fighting for children long after the war has finished, trying to ensure that children who have witnessed what should never be seen - murder, violence, rape - have all they need to begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.

And the video and the 'War Child: Hope' CD are both about helping children specifically in Iraq.

To get an idea and just ONE story about how children are being affected by the war and terrorism in Iraq, you can read this reporter's blog entry about some terrorists who blew up a car bomb near some Iraqi children who were talking with US soldiers...

War Child Canada is working with their local partner, Muslim Hands, to rehabilitate local public schools, improve educational resources and infrastructure to support the education and healthy emotional development of approximately 2,000-3,000 children. The project will also focus on capacity building professionals and women to better equip them to care for children both physically and psychologically.

Working with its local partner, Al Amal, War Child Canada is providing training in peace-building, conflict resolution and youth engagement. By establishing a resource and training centre in Baghdad, youth, especially girls, will be connected through War Child Canada’s existing and innovative No War Zone website to a community of youth around the world working together for peace, human rights and understanding.

The primary focus of this war Child Supported project is to provide the opportunity for children, youth, women and other vulnerable community members to recover and rebuild from the trauma of war, violence and poverty.

..and I know Avril fans from all over the world visit and read my Avril blog (Thanks, btw!) so I emailed War Child Canada to make sure they deliver to anywhere, not just Canada or North America, and they wrote back:

As for people who want to order them outside of Canada and the US, we do offer different shipping and payment methods online. All the information is on the site if you click on ‘buy now’. So in answer to your question, yes, all your readers should be able to buy a T-shirt."

So if you get an allowance (or have a birthday coming up!) think about getting something from their website to help all the kids affected by war.

...I don't know for SURE, but I think it would make Avril happy if you did too. :)

Oh boy, don't you love rumors ! Haha, i don't and im sure Avril doesn't either.. There's currently a rumor going around that Avril is pregnant.

From what I can find, the only reason the rumor even started was from a magazine called "Life and Style" which is known for not being the most, well honest ! I haven't seen it myself, but apparently is says:

"Life might get a little more complicated for Avril Lavigne. The singer, 21, who’s engaged to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley, 25, went out of her way to hide a suspicious belly bump while eating at the Beverly Grand restaurant in LA on March 13 - and he’s been wearing what appears to be a wedding band.

“She insisted on putting on her jacket before she got out of the car,” says an eyewitness. “When she did get out, it was like, ‘Whoa, she looks so pregnant!’” (Avril’s rep denies she’s pregnant or already married.)"

Maybe it is true, maybe it isn't but like come on, everyone has times when there belly looks bigger then it is, there could be lots of reasons for it. Plus this is the same magazine who had the cover story saying that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were splitting up, and they're still together so far ....and some places are saying Tom Cruise is thinking about suing the magazine because of that story.

It would be funny if Avril really WAS pregnant, considering April Fools Day is coming up on April 1st and one of the April Fools pranks Avril has played on her mother was telling her that she was pregnant! :-)

March 27 Update:
I just saw a post on the Avril forum on her website with a link to a picture of a French newspaper photo that also says Avril might be pregnant... it still doesn't look 100% true to me, but take a look at it by clicking here.

The translation (according to the forum post I saw) is:

It becomes serious!
Incredible! 15 days ago we showed you Avril in holidays in Paris with her lover Deryck, the leader of Sum 41, and nothing supposed her state.
This week , when we saw her in Beverly Hills's streets, there is any doubt: Avril is waiting for an happy event! This is a beautiful belly which predict us a baby for Autumn..."

July 19 Update:
Right after Avril & Deryck got married, the television show ET Canada - who had exclusive rights to the wedding - interviewed Avril over the phone.

When asked about them having children, Avril said: "Oh God no! Not for awhile. Eventually. Down the road."

So, there you have it! As of their wedding date, Avril is not pregnant and they don't plan on having kids for a while now. :-)

Here's LOTS of new updates for the animated movie "Over the Hedge" where Avril voices a possum character...

If you live in or near Toronto (or want to go for a trip there), you can see an EARLY showing of the movie!

This year, the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children will have "Over the Hedge" as one of their popular kids flicks :)

"...While it will still be a work-in-progress when the ninth Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children is running April 21-30, Over The Hedge is a coup because it is a potential boxoffice hit."

Just so you know like how much it costs to go to this, it's like $20 for kids, and $32 for adults. But that does include three movies. Not bad !

I'm not really big on playing video games, so i couldn't really find ALOT of info on it yet, but it looks to be well on its way, so it should be released pretty soon. Maybe when the movie comes out in May ?

According to the Toronto Star, Avril's Toronto home is up for sale...!

"...The biggest cultural export in the history of Napanee, Ont., is selling her Toronto home.
